Although this is not a health site, most likely you are concerned with the welfare of your family and I think I would be doing you a disservice if i didn’t at least address this subject. Ok, back to the kinds of salads…

Green Salads

This is by far the healthiest type of salad that you can eat. Green salads are mainly used for a side dish or appetizer. These salads are super simple and quick to make.

Hearty Vegetable Salads

They contain all vegetables other than green and leafy such as lettuce and cabbage. Hearty vegetable salads are another healthy option. There are several options that fit perfectly for a vegetable salad. You can put together these salads as side dishes, appetizers and as a main dish.

Dessert Salads

A awesome ending to a great meal. There are recipes for fruit salads, salads with whipped, pudding or gelatin topping. These salads are bursting with sweetness.

Heavy Salads

Heavy salads are predominately use a heavy sauce. Heavy salads bring to mind pasta or potato. Pasta being the most popular. Immediately Italian flavors come to mind, but think Asian too. This kind of salad is perfect as main dish or appetizer.

Entrée Salads

This is a “main dish” salad. Often including some sort of meat. Chicken, beef, seafood and fish are used to accent the salad. A mixture of greens or vegetables are common in entree Salads. Popular entree salads are chef salad, Caesar salad and cob salad.

Another great thing about salads are that they can fit any budget and they are so easy to make. If you see a recipe that calls for chicken, try it with beef. Recipes are meant to be tweaked to your liking. Salad offers so much flexibility. Here is a suggestion, decide on what kind of salad you want before you decide on the actually salad.
